The best advice for the most memorable proposal

So, you’re planning on proposing? Congratulations! This is going to be one of the biggest and happiest moments of your life. A moment like this takes careful planning and consideration.

One of the biggest questions we hear our guests ask us is how to make their proposal unique and memorable for their special someone. Here are 3 of our best tips we always keep in mind when planning a proposal with our guests!

Include sentimental items and personal touches throughout your proposal.

Personal touches throughout your proposal can make the experience so much more heartwarming for your loved one. We recommend things like scattering photos of you as a couple throughout the room your proposal will take place in, sharing your favourite memories during your speech, playing a song that's special to your relationship, or inviting your family and friends to celebrate with you. Bringing in those personal elements to your proposal will not only make it more special for the person you love, it will also help ease your nerves, since you'll be easily reminded of why you're ready to take your relationship to a new chapter.

Practice, practice, practice! Practice your speech.

This may be the tip that you gloss over quickly, but we really believe it's one of the most important! Nerves can really run high when you see the love of your life standing in front of you. The last thing you want is to draw a blank when it comes time to tell her all the reasons why you want to marry her! Take the time to plan out your speech. It doesn't have to be written and memorized word-for-word, your thoughts should come from the heart in the moment. But be sure you know the major points you'd like to mention! What's important to you as a couple? What are the reasons why you want to marry your partner? Make sure you have clear and thought-out answers for questions like these, and you'll be set for the day of your proposal!

Remember, if something else comes to mind while you're down on one knee, say it! Speaking from the heart is really the best way to go, but in a thoughtful and meaningful way. This is definitely not something you can wing on the fly!

Stay down on one knee for long enough!

It's common to want to stand right back up after you've asked that big question to hug your fiancé. But don't rush the moment! Take your time, and really let your fiancé take in the experience. Expect that she may feel overwhelmed, excited, and overjoyed, and will need a moment before she says “Yes” to forever with you.

We really recommend staying on your knee while you place the ring on her finger as well. It makes for beautiful romantic photos, and will help you soak in the moment a little longer too! It’s such a unique and special moment, you’ll want to remember it forever.
