5 Tips to Achieve the Perfect Proposal
Here at The Ruby Manor, we’ve hosted over 100 proposals within our first year and a half of opening our venue! With all the experience we have in planning, decorating, and executing luxury proposals for our guests, we want to share our tips for the perfect proposal.

When we plan proposals with our guests, we receive so many questions from what do to during the proposal, to what to wear! This blog post is going to break down exactly what you need to remember to plan for before you pop the question to the love of your life.
There are definitely aspects of proposal planning that many people have never even thought of before, which is why we’re here to let you in on our secrets, and help you achieve your dream proposal.
Tip #1: Stay on your knee for long enough!
It's common to want to stand right back up after you've asked that big question. But don't rush! Take your time, and really let your fiancé take in the moment. They'll need some time to react and to take everything in, so don't rush!
We also recommend staying on your knee while you place the ring on her finger as well. It makes for beautiful romantic photos, and will help you soak in the moment a little longer too!
Tip #2: Personalize your proposal experience to your relationship!
Take the time to plan some personalized elements into your proposal. Whether that be scattering photos of you as a couple throughout the room, sharing your favourite memories during your speech, playing a song that's special to your relationship, or inviting your family and friends to celebrate with you.
Bringing in personal elements to your proposal will not only make it more special for the person you love, it will also help ease your nerves, since you'll be easily reminded of why you're ready to take your relationship to a new chapter.
Tip #3: Tips for saying your speech
With all the excitement and nerves that come with proposing, it can be easy to forget all of the sweet, meaningful things you planned on saying before you pop the question...
Really take a moment to clear your head, and take a deep breath before you begin your speech.
It's important to remember there's no rush when you're proposing. Even if there are cameras in the room, this is your moment. Take as long as you need with your significant other to tell them all the reasons why you want to marry them.
Tip #4: What to wear to your proposal
We truly believe that you should wear something that makes you feel confident and at your best for your proposal. We have two tips to help guide you along in choosing your outfit:
1. Take into consideration the colour of the decor you've picked out for your proposal. Matching or complimenting your outfit colour to the proposal decor is always beautiful. Try not to go for any clashing colours with the decor.
2. The most IMPORTANT tip is to make sure you can get down on one knee in your bottoms! Do the stretch test, and get down on your knee a few times beforehand to make sure your bottoms aren't too tight for the big moment.
Tip #5: Do a run through of your proposal
A dry-run of your proposal is key to making sure you don't forget any important details for your proposal. Planning is key, and when you plan your proposal with us, we always have a consultation before the actual proposal to go over all the details of the big day.
We always make sure to go over:
- The date and time of the proposal
- How you're keeping the proposal a surprise
- The set up and decor
- How the proposal will go (run-through)
- The guest list of loved ones coming to celebrate
